RT Coopers Solicitors copyright lawyers have substantial expertise in advising and assisting clients on copyright law. Our copyright lawyers receive numerous questions on copyright law, including how to protect books, films, videos, musical works or literary works. We can advise you on copyright protection and, in addition, we provide a depository service for clients who wish to deposit their copyright works with us. Once we verify the works, we provide a certificate of registration. This is an annual service.

We also represent clients in copyright disputes. Our aim in any commercial disputes is to manage the expectations of our clients. The costs of litigation can accrue very easily and we tend to charge our clients in stages. In that way, our clients will not be faced with a huge bill at the end of the case. Wherever possible, and provided it is in our client's best interests, we would encourage clients to settle their cases. We spearhead such negotiations on behalf of our clients.

With regards to ownership of copyright in music and films, we advise on a number of such deals, including clearance of intellectual property rights (IPRs) in music videos and in feature films. This is crucial because you should own the IPRs in your film or video before looking for funding or exploiting your video or film.
